Simple Glazed Ham

Ingredients:

For the Ham:

• 1 whole or half ham (pre-cooked or smoked)

• Water (about ½ inch in the bottom of the roasting pan)

For the Glaze:

• ¼ cup brown sugar

• ¼ cup maple syrup

• ¼ cup fresh orange juice

Optional:

•  You can add a pinch of clove, mustard, or cinnamon for extra flavor

• Garnishes like pineapple rings, orange slices, cranberries, glazed carrots or fresh rosemary for a pop of flavor and color

Cooking Utensils:

• Roasting pan: at least 1 inch sides

• Rack: optional — keeps ham slightly above the water

• Aluminum foil: to cover while baking

• Basting brush: for applying glaze

• Meat thermometer: should reach about 140°F for a cooked ham

• Sharp carving knife

• Cutting board

• Tongs or large fork: to move or steady the ham

• Measuring cups/spoons

• Mixing bowl & spoon

Prep Steps: 

Quick Brown Sugar Glaze

Mix:

¼ cup brown sugar

¼ cup maple syrup

¼ cup orange juice

Baked Ham Steps

1. Heat oven to 325°F.

2. Place ham fat-side up in a roasting pan with ½ inch of water.

3. Cover tightly with foil and bake 10 minutes per pound.

4. In the last 30 minutes, remove foil, turn oven to 425°F, and brush glaze over the ham before returning it to the oven, then once more after 15 minutes.

5. Rest 20 minutes before slicing.

6. Garnish to your liking, and enjoy!
